Jeff Happy 40th!

Welcome to the club.  Have a wonderful day and a great time celebrating.  For what it's worth, Andrew couldn't believe you we're turning 40.  He thought you were in you're twenties:)

Happy Birthday,
Rebecca, Todd, Alyssa, and Andrew
A time you weren't so disturbingly old... It was the year 2000. The phone rang at 3am in the morning. I woke and nervously jumped to answer it, worrying it was an emergency. A guy I had never talked to was on the other end and casually said, "Is Jon there?" I responded, "Uh... I'm pretty sure he's asleep?" And he replied, "Can you tell him Jeff called?" Jeff was in NY where it was 6am. He had been up all night partying. That's how I met Jeff.

From "Pizza-Pizza" when you first moved to the bay area, video taping Jon yelling at us to skiing in Tahoe, to all the parties, picnics, weddings and other celebrations over the years, you've been my longest-standing bay area friend, going on 13 years. Damn, we're old. Actually, you'll old. 40? Gross. I don't know if I can even hang out with you any more. I actually shouldn't make these age-related jokes, because I genuinely feel bad for how old you are. Have a great birthday and may you live long enough to shit yourself...

Todd

Welcome To Your 40's!

Happy Birthday, Jeff!!  I echo Kristi's comments below on all the great MSU memoirs...Too many to count.  Wishing you all the best in 2013 and beyond!!

Your Fellow Class of 1995 MSU Accounting Alum,
Karin Archer (Diedrich)

Happy Birthday Old Man!

Happy birthday Jeff! Too many memories to list (but I'll try: Fado's and barmen and NY Jets, Polly Esthers and extremely horrible dancing, West Virginia (Ina....MAAAAARIO), large rats in NYC, nintendo nights, East Lansing (Lee Corso), a dry spell where you decided to not talk to me for a couple years (still hurting over that), vegas, vegas, vegas (seriously, you could have charged that drink at 6am to the room), Tomasso's, vegas, Mexico (extra strong please), Tahoe (hot tubs), frisbee, too many bars to list, too many laughs, a few tears, napkins (that have successfully sketched out the future for the entire human race), and quite a few memories that perhaps best I don't list here). We have seen a lot, and I am looking forward to the more we will see!

Jeff, you have been a good and very important friend to me.  You have always been there when I have needed you and I have always known I can count on you (well except if you are in charge of getting the taxi). There were periods in my life that you were my biggest supporter and always managed to talk some sense into me....I am very grateful for that.

40 years....it’s really not all that bad...in fact it is likely to only get better from here on in!

Happy birthday Jeff!  I hope you have a fantastic birthday.  And thanks for being such a good friend!

Wykes
Thelen,

Happy 40th birthday!  One of the first of the MSU class of 1995 to turn the big 4-0 with the rest of us not far behind.  Although I haven't had the chance to see you in a while I will always remember the great times we all had.  Who knew that planning an alumi lunch for an accounting fraternity would lead to meeting such a great person.

There were too many fun times to name them all but here are just a few.  Countless late night shark bowls followed of course by late night Pancheros.  Long bus trips to Joe Louis and Old Shaleileigh and back again. The Bomber/Thelen Pancheros night followed by a bus trip the next day to Northwestern  to see some Spartan basketball.   Finally who could forget the endless proclamations of "I'm going to Scottsdale" after all of the job interviews were finally over.

It sounds like 40 will be a great year for you.  Congratuations on your engagement!  You are a truly great guy who deserves all the happiness in the world.

Have a shark bowl and burrito for me and Happy 40th!

Kristi Grubb (a.k.a. gator)

Happy Birthday

Jeff,

You have been my friend for over half of your forty years.  You have gone by many names over the years... Good Buddy, Little Buddy, Value Meal Buddy, Tier 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 Friend.  During that time we have slept in the same bed more often than I wish to recall.  You have pushed me up hills after I ate one too many pancakes at Kate's Kitchen.  You have taught me the proper way to finish a beer (not a single drop left over) and explained how the "Bill's Safety Pins Lions".  You showed me the ideal time to go shopping for clothes (day after Thanksgiving) and lent me your best shirt on the first day of my new job.  You helped me move a whole house of furniture on one days' notice and even rented the moving truck on my  behalf when my license was expired.  You let me borrow your cell phone to wish my dad a happy Father's Day when I was too stubborn to buy my own.  You have picked me up at the airport late in the night and kicked space ass with me on Xbox until the wee hours of the morning.  You willingly accompanied me on my quest to "get out into the metal community" and let me fill up your tivo with every episode of Headbangers Ball.  We embarrassed ourselves by attending a Nelly Furtado concert together on Valentine's Day and shared pitchers of Frozen Raspberry Margarita's on more than a few occasions.  You do "the worm" every time I ask.  You always buy first round at the bar and you always pay more than your share at dinner.  Let's not even try to count the amount of time you have patiently listened to me complain.

In return for your undying friendship I have misled you about the amount of Mad Dog we were sharing and stolen the last piece of pizza from you more than once.  I have given you bad advice and criticized you for not taking it.  I have made inappropriate comments about your friends and ridiculed your proudest achievements.  I cheated you out of all your on-line poker chips and then lied about it to your face.  I have called you names which I know you do not wish to be called.  I have broken your furniture and lost your valuable possessions.  Without your consent, I took quarters from your room which I had no intention of paying back.  I have made fun of your appearance, laughed at your misfortune and discouraged you from making good decisions for my own benefit.  Most egregious of all, I stole your long-standing Hurricane Drinking Championship Title in a brazen, pre-meditated act of thievery of the kind not seen since the Great Train Robbery of 1903.  And yet, despite all of this, your friendship has never wavered.   I would like to take this opportunity to wish you a very happy 40th and look forward to many more years of calling you my friend.

It also sounds like I probably owe you a beer or two...

HBD, GB!

Jason

40 and still going strong

Thelen, 40!! WOW! Hard to believe. Lots of great memories and adventures, seems just like yesterday we were at Market41 on Tuesday night, Sports Column on a Saturday night and who can forget the RIO after a Red Wings SUCK game........“don’t hate, appreciate”. This may seem crazy, but after all of that I still believe our best days and memories are in front of us. Enjoy the day but keep in mind you aren’t as young as you used to be so you might want to wait until the weekend to really celebrate.

Happy 40th!

You’re a good man Jeff.  Look forward sharing many more piping hot baskets of deep fried trout and ice cold Labatts with you at that famous 5 star restaurant somewhere northeast of the Soo.  But if it’s cold, rainy, and the fire wood is too wet to light, no worries eh, I’ll just add some gasoline.  Have great day!  - Greg

Happy 40th B-Day Buddy!

So many great times, I'm happy to have shared with you.  From the days at MSU, our special moment at the Landshark, Spartan Tailgates, nights out in Royal Oak, ski weekends in Denver, Vegas trips, seeing you do the 'worm' and weak pogo-stick dance moves,  and all the incredible guys weekend with our great group of friends.

Thanks for being my friend and looking forward to the get togethers later this year.

Happy Birthday!

JTT-
While it is too bad we can't have Pizza Pizza on Sunday nights and watch the Sopranos any more  I am happy for you and wish you a wonderful birthday.  Next time you come to Denver we will have to hit Choppers, Fados and look out for Jets fans (all on Deloitte, of course).

Happy Birthday and talk to you soon!

Jon

Happy Birthday Buddy!

Hard to believe we are turning 40.  Seems like yesterday (well, almost) that we were graduating from State and starting our public accounting careers.  Thanks for all of the good times, and I know that we all look forward to many more.  Happy Birthday Buddy!  Congratulations again on your engagement to your beautiful fiance.  I think that 40 is going to be a good year for you.  Although there are too many good times to put into one message, here are some memories from the past 20 years.  Wish we could be there to celebrate with you, but I am sure we will do it soon.

YGB,
Scott

40 Years Young!

Jeff Thelen (aka Taylen),

You have been a good buddy of mine for quite some time, and even know you left Royal Oak as soon as I arrived (not sure if it was because of me), I will always remember the Christmas' when you and Jason visited Bomber & I at Club 4423. The good times we had during these particular breaks (too many to name) was truly a gift from Santa......Since I'm not of many words.....please enjoy this video montage I made for the birthday boy. Charley and I would like to wish you a very happy "40th Birthday"!

Dear Jeff:

Charley and I would like to wish you a very happy "40th
Birthday"!  I can't believe your 40, where did the years go.  I still
remember the day you were born,  I was so bummed that I missed your
dad's visit telling us of your arrival.  Tom said your dad was so
excited and proud.  And I was so touched to be your Godmother!!!  You
were such an enjoyable godchild!  Do you remember the baby puppet in a
basket I made and gave you at Christmas for a joke!!!  The look on
your face was priceless!  You really didn't know what to say!!!  You
really thought that was your gift,

So sorry we can't be there to help you celebrate your birthday but
looking forward to celebrating your marriage to Melissa.  And I'll
close with a statement your Uncle Charley always says about a birthday
milestone like 40 (and you know he's always so positive)  "Its all
downhill from here!"
